If you have ever asked this question you are not alone. Lots of people ask this question. Many of us have as well!
Honestly, all of us need to ask it.
The quick answer to the question is… YES! (If you feel ready to follow Jesus, then on the left side of the web site click on the blue and yellow icon that says ‘2 ways to live’. It will explain committing to Jesus in a clear and simple way.)
But please let me explain. I ask you to continue reading.
Following Jesus is the most satifying thing there is in the whole world. Truly!
At one point in his life, Jesus likened following Him to a man finding a treasure buried in a field and then upon covering up the treasure the man goes and sells all that he has in order to buy that field and get the treasure. Following Jesus is that important. Its a treasure.
That is why for many years and throughout the whole world, there are and have been people willingly deciding to follow Jesus.
I hope you clicked on this link because you are interested in Jesus and following Him. Perhaps you are even asking this very question…Can I follow Jesus?
Well, when it comes to following Jesus, most of the time someone hears of who Jesus is and what He has done by living and dying and that person feels compelled to commit himself to following Jesus. There is great emphasis in hearing about Jesus. Of course, if you’ve never heard of Jesus or even heard of Him accurately, how can you follow Him accurately.
So, there are some people, indeed many people, in the world who have never heard of Jesus and that is a shame. How can they commit to Him and follow Him if they have never heard of Him and what He has done? We need to do a better job of telling everyone about Jesus the whole world over.
At the same time, many people have heard of Jesus and what he has done in living and dying. All of these people can be described in 4 different ways. Or to put it another way, there are 4 types of people in the world who have heard of Jesus.
1-The first type is the person who hears of Jesus and is not impacted at all. They could not care less. They don’t consider any of it. It is basically in one ear and out the other. Sometimes it may be an opposing of Jesus, sometimes it may be just doubt, or sometimes it may be just a lack of care or concern. Either way it is a rejection of Jesus. If this is you, please re-consider. Please re-think who Jesus is and what He has done. Please do not dismiss or ignore the most important thing.
2-The second type is the person who hears of Jesus and feels inspired and seems to want to follow Him. For a season, they do follow Jesus and are excited in it. However, for some reason or for many reasons, they one day just stop. Not necessarily any explanation for it, except that their brief commitment was not genuine and therefore it grew old and became dull and boring and useless. Unfortunately, there are many people like this. You probably know of someone who at one point was excited about following Jesus and now they are not. If this is you, please wake-up. Please do not allow yourself to fall away. Listen again to who Jesus is and what He has done. Embrace the powerful truth and commit to it.
3-The third type is the person who hears of Jesus and is inspired and they commit to following Him. This commitment to Jesus lasts for some time but then is overcome with other priorities. It may be difficulties, hard times or struggles. It may be other things are more fun and more enjoyable. Either way it is that something has become more important and more significant and kinda just slid Jesus out of the way. Next thing you know, Jesus has little to No place in the person’s life. They aren’t following Him at all anymore. Unfortunately, there are many people like this as well.
4-The fourth type is the person who hears of Jesus and is inspired and their life is truly changed. They believe and accept what they’ve heard and they commit to following Jesus. In their hearts, they hold fast to the life-change they are experiencing. This is what true Christianity is! This is what the Bible is about. This is what following Jesus is really like. Someone who hears of Jesus, believes it, commits themself to it, and their life is forever changed by it. I hope this is you.
I hope that you are following Jesus. If you are just hearing of Jesus, who He is and what He has done in living and dying, then I hope that you will commit to Him. He will not disappoint you!
If you would like to hear of Jesus, who He is and what He has done, then click on the ‘2 ways to live’ icon on the left side of the screen. This will give you an awesome presentation of deciding to follow Jesus.
If you commit to Jesus and you want to follow Him, then please tell someone. There are many people who follow Jesus, and all the people who follow Him help one another and support each other. So please tell someone so that you can find some others who do. If you would like, please e-mail Josh at jcarlgreene@bellsouth.net and let him know.
